POWERS: The canopic jars were the containers used to hold the internal organs which were removed from the dead during the mumification ritual. As organs would cause a body to decompose quickly, they were removed and preserved to be used again when they were reborn in the afterlife. They were often placed in the tomb alongside the mummified body and were looked after by specific gods known as the 4 Sons of Horus or Children of Heru during their journey to the afterlife. The preservation of these organs (liver, stomach, lungs and intestines) highlight the importance of each in this life and the next. Our body is the vessel that carries our spirit through the journey of life on earth therefore without caring for each of these crucial organs, we would not survive. Canopic jar lids were represented by Hapy, Duamutef, Qebehsenuef, and Imsety each whose role was to protect a specific organ: *Hapy with the head of the baboon, preserving the lungs. Bringing live-giving oxygen into our body, needed by each cell to survive. *Duamutef with a jackal head, preserving the stomach. A crucial organ for digestion as it is the primary organ responsible for breaking down food. *Qebehsenef with the head of a falcon, preserving the intestines. The vagus nerve is our brain-gut connection so disturbances to our intestines can effect our mental clarity. *Imsety with a human-head, preserving the liver. The liver detoxes the blood and metabolizes and stores important nutrients in the body. It represents our ability to thrive in times of drought and plenty

Egypt has been known for its rich deposits of high-quality alabaster for thousands of years especially around Luxor. Ancient Egyptians used alabaster extensively for temples, sculptures, canopic jars in burial ceremonies as well as for perfume vessels.

Its translucent appearance and soft glow give it a symbolic representation of spiritual illumination and purity of spirit, encouraging feelings of peace and calmness. Alabaster is believed to enhance one's spiritual connection, intuition and facilitate communication with higher realms and spirit guides, promoting a deeper understanding of one's spiritual path. Its ability to bring mental clarity makes it a great stone to keep on your alter and stimulate meditation.

Alabaster is a "drawing" stone meaning it can draw things to you or to draw things away from you, depending on what your need. It can draw forgiveness, whether it be self forgiveness or the ability to forgive someone. It also helps to draw anger out of a person and release it. Alabaster helps fight against stress, reduce fear, heal arguments, resolve disturbances and problems by providing inner harmony and peace. Since alabaster is so soft, it does best with a sun cleansing.
